Mayor's Update May 2020

Mayor's Blog
Apologies to all, it has been a while since I have posted anything on my mayoral blog. I have lots to share with you, with entries dating back prior to the Government lockdown late March 2020. I will update those past entries, but wanted to initially concentrate on my second year as elected Mayor of Diss to tie in with the launch of our new Town Council website.
I would like to thank our hard working Council staff who continue to work behind the scenes during the virus lockdown.
Throughout lockdown I continue to serve the community as your Mayor if not physically but virtually. I received an email from Gary Alexander and Madeline Lees kindly asking me to support the formation of a group to help those in and around the Fair Green community during the lockdown, a group that would work together with the district hubs and the vulnerable.
The group met virtually for a Zoom meeting and it was lovely to be a part of history in the making. The group discussed and agreed several actions including; the importance of creating a newsletter to be distributed through community letterboxes; the collection of prescriptions; dog walking; a spreadsheet and map of those who wanted to be involved in the group and help to those self-isolating e.g. food deliveries, telephone buddying and a group website / Facebook / WhatsApp group.
Lots to do, but it is so important for us to support those who need our support, and also to keep ourselves safe! The group has called itself, The Fairer Green!
