Diss Town Council Website Accessibility Statement
We want everyone who uses our website to be able to find, read and understand our content, so we work to achieve and maintain the AA standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

PDF documents and file attachments
Whilst Diss Town Council aims to ensure that documents published on this website are accessible, some PDF and other document attachments may not fully meet current accessibility standards.
This is particularly the case where documents:
-
have been provided by external organisations;
-
contain scanned signatures or handwritten information;
-
are historic records; or
-
originate from source material that cannot reasonably be converted into a fully accessible format without altering the original content.
The Council is working to improve the accessibility of newly published documents and is incorporating accessibility checks into its publication processes. Where reasonably practicable, new documents will be created and published in accessible formats.
If you have difficulty accessing a document on this website, please contact us and we will work with you to provide the information in an alternative accessible format where possible. Printed copies are also available from our offices.
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The Town Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Non-compliance with the Accessibility Regulations
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below:
-
the text will not reflow in a single column when you change the size of the browser window;
-
you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text;
-
some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software;
-
some documents provided by third parties may not fully meet accessibility standards; and
-
some documents containing scanned content, handwritten information or scanned signatures may not be fully accessible.
Some of our PDF and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we publish meeting agendas, minutes, policies, procedures, financial information and other statutory documents.
If you experience difficulty accessing any document published on this website, please contact the Council and we will work with you to provide the information in an alternative accessible format where reasonably practicable. Printed copies are also available from our offices.
Disproportionate burden
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix old copies of meeting minutes. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will aim to meet accessibility standards.
Contact us
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, or if you’d like to request information in a different format, please contact the council using the details below.
Enforcement
Enforcement procedure - The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
