What a load of rubbish!

Passionate about keeping Diss rubbish-free, the newly established Diss Litter picking Group put its recently donated litter grabbers into action this month at its first official pick.

Supported by 12 members of the public, four town councillors including Town Mayor Eric Taylor and representatives from Co-op Funeralcare, the volunteers accumulated over a dozen full sacks of litter from the southwest corner of the town.

“It was support from all these people and their associated groups, including Diss Town Council and other local businesses, that made the day a massive success,” said group organiser, George Waterman. “Without them, my relatively small independent project simply would not have been as successful as it was.

"If anyone else in the local area has a similar idea for a project or group and needs some support to get it off the ground, they shouldn’t hesitate to speak either to myself or anyone else involved in this project. All of our hard work has proven that different groups within the town when working together can achieve many wonderful things.”

The next pick takes place on the 14th of August. If you’re interested in taking part, please meet at 10am at the Waveney Chapel on Stanley Road. Everyone welcome!
