Plans Announced for Diss Remembrance Parade 2025
12 September 2025
Diss’ annual Remembrance Parade, wreath-laying ceremony, and service will begin at 2:10pm. For the first time, the route will extend from the Methodist Church car park, proceeding along Mere Street under a road closure. Around 35 organisations are expected to take part, including the Salvation Army Band, Armed Forces personnel, emergency services, and youth organisations.
A traditional “drumhead” service will follow in the Market Place before a 3pm remembrance service at St Mary’s Church. Wreaths will then be moved to the war memorial for dedication. Town Clerk Sarah Villafuerte-Richards said, “We invite everyone to join us in honouring the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women to protect our freedom.”
Roads will be closed from 2–3:30pm on 9th November. A minute’s silence will also be observed in the Market Place on Monday 10th November at 11am. Diss Town Council has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the contributions of serving personnel, veterans, and military families.
