The nominations for Diss’ Honoured Citizen and Junior Good Citizen awards 2021 are now open. These annual awards have been running since 1994 and are given to nominated individuals who go above and beyond to help our community. This year’s deadline is Friday 26th February and here’s all the info you need make your own nomination.

A chance to say thank you

2020 was a tough year for everyone. But, despite the many challenges, Diss’ unique community spirit shone through. From individual acts of kindness to organised programmes of support, the wellbeing of others kept the heart of our town beating hard and strong.

At the Town Council, we witnessed first-hand many examples of kindness, generosity and strength in the face of adversity throughout 2020. And we’re sure you did too. So, if you’d like to pay tribute to someone who went above and beyond for our community in 2020, now’s your chance.

The two award categories are:

  • Junior Good Citizen – for any young person of school age who goes to school in Diss.

  • Honoured Citizen – for anyone else.

Nominees can include people who run a club, raise funds for charities or individuals who are always there to help neighbours or vulnerable people in the community.

How do I nominate?

To nominate you should submit a nomination form which includes:

  • information about the person you are nominating

  • your reason for nominating them, and

  • details of the two people proposing the nomination. Both proposers should be residents of Diss and cannot be serving members of the Town Council (for the Honoured Citizen award this cannot be a relative).

Where do I send my form?

To submit your nomination, you can either:

What happens next?

After the deadline (26th February), Full Council will review all nominations and decide on a recipient for each category. Presentation of both awards will be made by the Town Mayor at the Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday 28th April 2021. Both recipients will receive a framed certificate and have his/her name inscribed on a Roll of Honour board in the Corn Hall.

We've been recognising our community heroes since 1994 and we can’t wait to receive your nominations for this very challenging year. We know there are lots of worthy nominees out there so please send in your nomination and help us pay tribute to them. If you have any questions, please do email us at towncouncil@diss.gov.uk
