New Community Spaces in Diss

20 August 2026

Diss continues to see exciting new community-led spaces emerge, helping bring people together, support local enterprise and create new reasons to visit the town centre.

No.8 Marketplace at Diss Market Place recently celebrated its third anniversary. Run by the Diss Heritage Trust with support from local volunteers, it provides a home for independent traders, artists and makers, offering everything from gifts and handmade goods to pre-loved items and locally produced food. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments in the café or relax in the cosy upstairs Ballroom lounge.

Open Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–4pm.

At Disscovered, at 13 St Nicholas Street, local creativity and community come together. Created by owner Tilly, this welcoming new space offers social crafting, creative drop-ins and co-working, while providing a platform for independent businesses and local makers.

The range of products is constantly changing, from toys, gifts and jewellery to crafts, honey, pet supplies and treats. Whether you are looking for a unique gift, inspiration for your next project or simply somewhere to have a chat, everyone is welcome to pop in.

Open Wednesday–Friday, 10am–3pm and Saturday, 10am–2pm. Opening hours may vary with events. Follow Disscovered on Facebook for activities and updates.

Also newly established is CoLab, a community hub in Norfolk House Yard on St Nicholas Street. Designed as a space for people across Diss and the surrounding area, CoLab focuses on connection, skills-sharing and practical support.

Activities include shared lunches, social gatherings, co-working, technology support, repair cafés, swap events and family-friendly activities. The space is intended to be shaped by the community, with residents encouraged to get involved, volunteer and share their skills.

CoLab does not have traditional daily opening hours, instead offering drop-ins and activities at set times each week. Sessions are generally held on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with times varying according to the programme.

For the latest opening times and activities, call 07721 134509, email info@diss-colab.org or follow CoLab on Facebook.

Together, these initiatives showcase the creativity and community spirit within Diss and the important role welcoming shared spaces can play in making our town centre a place to meet, learn, create and connect.
