Mayor and Council Leader announced for 2023/24

At the meeting of Full Council on 17th May, Diss Town Council elected councillor Kieran Murphy as Mayor for 2023-2024. Kieran is the youngest ever First Citizen of Diss and was only elected as one of three District Councillors for South Norfolk Council earlier this month.
On his appointment, Kieran said, “I am truly honoured to have been voted in by my fellow councillors and will strive to do my best by the residents of Diss in my capacity as Mayor and District councillor (also Roydon!)”
Also, at the meeting councillors re-elected Simon Olander as Council Leader for another 4 years. Simon has chaired the Infrastructure committee for several years with responsibility for working with partner organisations to deliver on the Diss & District Neighbourhood Plan, and improve town access, cleanliness & security, contributing to the Council’s strategic objective of creating a greener, cleaner and safer Diss. His main responsibility as Council Leader is to drive and champion the Council’s strategic plan and on being re-elected, Simon said, “I will strive to continue to get the best for Diss.”
