Investing in Youth Provision in Diss

Diss Town Council has secured £20,000 in grant funding from South Norfolk Council to support youth provision in Diss and surrounding communities during 2026/27.
The investment follows consultation with local young people, which highlighted a clear need for more affordable activities, safe places to socialise and opportunities to build skills, confidence and wellbeing.
A Youth Voice Survey, alongside consultation with pupils at Diss High School, received 73 responses. The findings were clear: 92% of young people would like more opportunities, activities and facilities in Diss, while 75% felt there is currently not enough for young people to do.
Young people particularly emphasised the need for somewhere safe and welcoming to meet friends, as well as after-school, weekend and holiday activities, sports, creative opportunities and support with personal development and wellbeing.
The Council is now seeking an experienced youth organisation to deliver a programme for 11–20-year-olds, expected to begin in October 2026. The programme will complement existing services and aim to reach young people who may not currently engage with organised activities.
We are also exploring opportunities for a dedicated youth space in Diss, creating a welcoming environment where young people can meet, take part in activities and develop their skills and aspirations. This is an important step towards rebuilding and expanding youth provision in the town.
