DTC urges central government to rethink the change to asylum seeker support
22 July 2025
Diss Town Council stands with South Norfolk Council in opposing the sudden reconfiguration of The Park Hotel into a site for single adult males.
We support asylum seekers — and have seen families thrive at the hotel with strong local support. But this proposed change is not right for Diss.
Our town simply doesn’t have the infrastructure to support this shift safely and sustainably. The lack of planning and engagement from the Home Office is deeply concerning.
We urge the government to reconsider and work with local partners on better, more appropriate solutions, and we are also engaging with our local MP to see what can be achieved.
