Congratulations to the winners of this year's Honoured Citizen & Junior Good Citizen Awards.
At the Annual Town Meeting on 29th September 2021, the awards were presented to Anne Beckett-Allen and Lily Mills.
Honoured Citizen Anne Beckett-Allen
Anne's proposer, Roella Trudgill, explained she had nominated Anne for her tireless work to help promote mental health first aid in the workplace and her efforts to run free support groups for the bereaved. She is also a trustee of Nelson's Journey and supports many other charities and is an inspiration to everyone to try and keep positive.
On receiving her award, Anne explained she’s passionate about the work she does having seen far too many funerals due to mental health. She encouraged people to become a Mental Health First Aider by visiting Rosedale’s website for more information.
Junior Good Citizen Lily Mills
Lily's proposer, Chris Brooks and Chair of Scole Nature Trails Trust talked about Lily’s positive outlook regarding change for the better, her consciousness and the lasting impression she makes on those she meets. She has committed her spare time to fundraising for Gissing children’s centre, supporting vulnerable members of the community, lifeguard training, Diss Youth Councillor and recently undertaking her Duke of Edinburgh award in addition to volunteering at the Trust for four years.
A big congratulations to both award recipients!
