A busy summer for DTC!

Working with our community
It has been a busy and rewarding summer for Diss Town Council, working alongside residents, schools, and local organisations to celebrate and support our town.
Highlights included two moving beacon-lighting ceremonies in Diss Park to mark the 80th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day. At Diss Carnival, we joined the community in travelling “around our world”, while a series of “retail excellence” workshops brought local businesses together. We also celebrated the library’s reopening, explored opportunities for future collaboration, and partnered with Diss High School and a local business on a design competition for a new Town Mayor’s chain insertion.
We have continued to work closely with the Heritage Trust and independent traders to improve the appearance of closed shop fronts and launch the new “Visit Diss” website. Discussions with Skate Park users are progressing to explore funding for improvements, and it was a pleasure to welcome two Diss High School students on work experience.
Looking ahead, we are exploring “Age Friendly Communities” accreditation with South Norfolk Council’s Health & Wellbeing Partnership, considering forming a group to secure funding for wildlife and community projects, and planning practical improvements during a team boardwalk maintenance day.
