The Platinum Jubilee
4pm - 10.30pm
Glow in the Park
To celebrate H.M. the Queen's Platinum Jubilee we're having a party in Diss park.
And everyone's welcome!
Called ‘Glow in the Park’, the event will be hosted by Park Radio, and use light in some of its many forms to mark this special occasion. A children’s lantern procession, beacon lighting ceremony, spectacular firework display and street-theatre sensations, LED drumming troupe Spark!, will all make Diss “glow”. Plus, courtesy of event sponsor, Upp, there will be a fun, light reaction game for the kids and lots of light-themed giveaways.
The event starts at 4pm and finishes at 10.30pm. The lantern procession will take place at 9pm and will run from the market place to the park. This will be followed by the lighting of the beacon in the park at 9.45pm. A fireworks display rounds-up the event at 10.30pm. There will also be food and drink stalls (including a free “ice cream bike” provided by Upp), live music and a packed programme of street theatre and entertainment.
One of the highlights of ‘Glow in the Park’ will be a spectacular, choreographed fireworks display to close the event.
Marking the start of the long, four-day bank holiday weekend, the festivities start at 4PM and will continue into the evening. We look forward to seeing residents and visitors there.
