Chelsea Flower Show comes to Diss

12 July 2020

Council Services

Are you a deadheading diva with a weakness for watering cans? Do you wish weeding was an Olympic sport? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Additional garden planters have been installed around the town and we need some help from our green-fingered locals (you?) to keep at total of over 70 planters looking their best.

Showcasing local towns and businesses

Funding for the newest planter additions has come directly from the Government as part of a package of support for businesses and towns impacted by Coronavirus.

The grant is designed to improve the look and feel of high streets; benefiting our shops, residents and visitors. And we think our planters are doing a great job!

But they do need a little TLC to keep them looking their best. Especially given that they aren’t home to just any old flowers…

Fresh from the flower show that wasn’t

A free and unexpected gift from this year’s Chelsea Flower Show (cancelled due to Covid-19), the trees and blooms on display in our new grey planters have travelled a long way to be with us. And now that they’re here we want to look after them.

They’re fresh and colourful at the moment (thank you rain!), but as the sunnier season approaches we know they’ll need a bit more attention.

Here’s where you come in.

Gardening gurus wanted

If you can spare some time (mostly during the drier summer months) to help with their upkeep, please do get in touch. It may just be a few hours a week, but your input and care will go a long way towards showcasing our beautiful town and helping it bloom.

And, with our planters looking pristine, who needs Chelsea?
