Volunteers provide an incredible range of support for their communities. And, as we find ourselves in a winter lockdown, the need for them has never been greater.
Checking in with someone who's vulnerable and shielding is a fantastic way to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, and confirm they have the essentials they need. It's also a good way to find out if they're looking after their health and wellbeing. And this includes physical activity.
Not everyone is comfortable talking about physical activity. So Active Norfolk is hosting two free training courses to help those working in the voluntary sector feel more confident about it.
Whether you're a regular volunteer or have stepped in to support the Coronavirus response, this free training will give you the skills you need to engage residents in the subject.
Who is it for?
The Physical Activity Training for Voluntary Groups is for volunteers and paid staff working in the voluntary and community sector.
What does it cover?
Through this hour and a half training you'll learn:
How to bring up the conversation
The benefits of being active
How to advise how much activity people should be getting
Resources to help people to become more active
Where to signpost to for local physical activity opportunities
When is it?
The sessions will be held virtually on Thursday 11th February from 10am to 11:30am and Wednesday 10th March from 1:30pm to 3pm.
