Friends of Diss Museum presents; FARMING IN THE PAST.
(How the land was worked by our forebears in East Anglia)
Philip West’s illustrated talk will centre on changes in farming in north Norfolk prior to & after the mechanisation. Philip deals with the general farming processes to include soil preparation, harvesting of crops and in the case of grain: milling, malting and export from north Norfolk ports.
He draws on personal experiences growing up in a farming community of his home village of Hindringham in the 50s and 60s and resultant changes to village life following the huge reduction in the agricultural labour force.
